Sneaking out

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In medicine, the term tapering off is understood to mean the process in which, at the end of a therapy phase, the dose of a drug or the number of therapeutic measures is planned gradually and over a longer period of time, so that it can ultimately be dispensed with.

Through the gradual reduction, the body should slowly get used to the new circumstances. Withdrawal symptoms are largely avoided. In addition, by slowly getting used to low doses or less frequent use, it can be observed how the patient reacts to this change and whether or how the state of health changes.

Tapering should be done on the doctor's orders and ideally under regular medical supervision.
