Workplaces Committee

The Committee for Workplaces ( ASTA ) is a voluntary body to be set up in Germany in accordance with Section 7 of the German Ordinance on Workplaces ( Arbeitsstättenverordnung ). The management lies with the Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (BAuA). The committee issues rules of procedure and elects the chairman from among its number. The rules of procedure and the election of the chairman require the approval of the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs .

The ASTA advises the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs (BMAS) on issues relating to occupational safety at workplaces. His tasks also include the development of technical rules for workplaces (ASR).

The ASTA has 15 members. The employers , the trade unions , the state authorities , the statutory accident insurance and experts each nominate three people. A deputy member is named for each member. Membership in the Committee for Workplaces is voluntary.

tasks

The tasks of the committee include:

  1. to determine the state of the art, occupational medicine and industrial hygiene rules and other reliable scientific knowledge for the safety and health of employees in workplaces ,
  2. Rules to determine how the requirements set out in this regulation can be met, and
  3. to advise the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs on issues of safety and health protection in workplaces.
