The Committee for Industrial Safety (ABS) advises the German Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs on issues of occupational safety in the provision and use of work equipment and in the operation of systems that require monitoring .

The ABS is commissioned with this implementation in Section 21 of the Ordinance on Industrial Safety and Health ( BetrSichV ). He was given the task of advising on all questions of occupational safety for the provision and use of work equipment and for the operation of systems requiring monitoring and is part of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Labor (now Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, BMAS). Section 21 (3) lists the more detailed tasks of the committee:

composition

The committee consists of 21 members, each of whom can be represented by a deputy. The members are selected from the following social groups:

  • Public and private employers
  • Unions
  • State authorities

  • Approved monitoring bodies
  • College and Science

The management lies with the Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health . In order to improve the subject-related work, the legislature provided sub-committees. A coordination body is responsible for internal coordination and participation as well as coordination with other regulatory frameworks.

Subcommittees

The ASB is divided into 4 sub-committees from 2010 to 2014.

  • Subcommittee 1: Policy Issues
  • Subcommittee 2: Protective measures in the event of electrical, mechanical hazards or against falls / systems, tools and machines
  • Subcommittee 3: Protective measures in the area of ​​plant and process technology, especially in the case of pressure and explosion hazards and elevators
  • Subcommittee 4: Protective measures in the event of hazards from noise, vibration, optical radiation or electromagnetic fields
