Austria quality mark

The Austria Gütezeichen is an Austrian seal of approval that has existed since 1946 and is awarded by the ÖQA "Austrian Working Group for the Promotion of Quality". Around 450 companies bear the quality mark.

It stands as a label for Austrian goods and is used to mark products and services that must meet certain conditions:

  • The Austrian share of the value of the cost of the finished product (including the cost of raw materials , semi-finished products , accessories , know-how, etc.) must be at least 50 percent.
  • In the case of services, in addition to the condition that the company or organization is based in Austria, at least 50 percent of the added value must be provided domestically.

In 2006 it had an Austria-wide degree of awareness of 76%, its credibility was rated with a school grade of 1.8. In 1996 the level of awareness was still at 93%.

The working group operates the ÖQA Certification GmbH (implementation of certifications and assessments of all kinds - in particular for awarding the ÖQA quality mark) and Quality Austria - Trainings, Certification and Assessment GmbH (system and personal certifications , assessments, trainings)

The ÖQA Certification GmbH (100% subsidiary of the ÖQA - Austrian Working Group for the Promotion of Quality) was founded in December 2007. The accreditation (Austrian Accreditation Act, Federal Law Gazette No. 448/2004) as a certification body according to ÖNORM EN 45011 from the Federal Ministry of Economics and Labor, which has existed since November 26, 2004, was transferred to ÖQA Certification GmbH in June 2008, Federal Law Gazette 184 of June 6, 2008 The ÖQA certification GmbH is acc. ISO / IEC 17065 accredited as a certification body for products with the identification number (PSID 0934) from Accreditation Austria / Federal Ministry of Science, Research and Economy for the areas listed in the decision and published at www.bmwfw.gv.at/akkreditierung.
