Pull-out track

As headshunt is referred to in stations in to a generally parallel path track misplaced railway siding , that the shunting is needed. A pull-out siding is advantageous because it enables shunting independent of train traffic . In stations without headshunt a shunting need to distribute the car in a plurality of station tracks or even for reacting to another track mostly off track to the track, wherein the shunting blocks the other trains.

A stump track at the end of a railway line is also called a pull-out track. Here it is the continuation of the main track and is used to move the vehicles .
