Autodesk Animator

Autodesk Animator is a 2D - animation - and graphics program in 1989 by Autodesk for MS-DOS has appeared PCs.

Animations generated in this way in the * .FLC and * .FLI file formats were quite widespread until the early 1990s. Game manufacturers also used it to create short intro or cutscenes, recognizable by the file extension.

The animations consist of various individual images, comparable to Animated GIF . The files could be played with a (free) player for the DOS command line . This was followed by an extended version called Animator Pro and in 1995 a version for Windows 3.1 / 95 , which could also output videos in AVI format. Autodesk discontinued the product. Later, however, Jim Kent, one of the authors of the software, released the source code.
