Erika Cristiano dos Santos , called Erika (born February 4, 1988 in São Paulo ) is a Brazilian soccer player .

Career

She started her career at Associação Sabesp at the age of six and then joined the youth boarding school at CA Juventus at eleven . In 2005 she got an offer from the Pelé Club FC Santos and played for the club from Sao Paulo until 2009 . This was followed by half a year in the USA for FC Gold Pride , from which they were drawn in the fourth round in the WPS International Draft in 2008. Érika played seven games in Women's Professional Soccer because she fell out of favor much after changing coach to Albertin Montoya. The defender then returned to Santos. After returning to Brazil for Santos, she scored six goals in the Copa do Brasil in just five games . She then moved to Foz Cataratas in the spring of 2010, from where she returned to Santos in the fall. After the women's football department of FC Santos was dissolved in January 2012, she signed a contract with a South Korean football club.

Erika's move to SC Corinthians was announced on August 6, 2018 .

International career

Érika represented her country at the U-20 Women's World Cup in Chile in 2008 and was later also in the squad for the 2008 Olympic Games, where she won the silver medal. She also took part in the 2011 World Cup and was used in all four games of the Brazilian team. In the group game against Equatorial Guinea , she scored the goal to lead 1-0. She caused a stir in the quarter-final game against the USA when she allegedly injured herself seriously in the 117th minute while her team was leading her 2-1 lead, was carried off the field and then immediately jumped off the stretcher and wanted to continue playing. The USA managed to equalize in stoppage time and ultimately prevailed against Brazil on penalties.
