The Associação Desportiva Centro Olímpico is a Brazilian women's football club from São Paulo in the state of the same name . The mascot is a lion.

history

The club was organized in March 2000 as the women's football division of the São Paulo Olympic Center for Training and Research (Centro Olímpico de Treinamente e Pesquisa; COTP), which has been located in São Paulo since 1976, and which for the first ten years was primarily dedicated to promoting young talent. In 2011, an A-team was finally set up for the first time, with which the sports association entered professional gaming. The runner-up in the state of São Paulo in 2011 and 2012 and the Brazilian cup final in 2012 were immediately achieved. The establishment among the top teams of Brazil was favored in 2012 by the dissolution of the women's team of Santos FC , from whose squad several top players such as Érika , Maurine and Gabi Zanotti could be recruited.

With the strengthened squad under the training of Arthur Elias , Centro Olímpico was finally able to prevail in two finals in 2013 with 2: 2 and 2: 1 against São José EC and win the first-ever national women's football championship. In the 2014 and 2015 seasons it was enough for third and in 2016 only for eleventh place. With their so far unique participation in the Copa Libertadores Femenina 2014 , the "lionesses" were eliminated after the group stage.
