The Grenzach rowing club e. V. (RCG) is a German rowing club that has been based in what is now Grenzach-Wyhlen since it was founded on February 9, 1955 , and thus belongs to the small group of post-war rowing clubs in West German rowing . The club is a member of the German Rowing Association (DRV) and the State Rowing Association of Baden-Württemberg (LRVBW) as well as the German Dragon Boat Association (DDV)

In terms of rowing, the RCG is primarily active in popular sports . It is Para Rowing offered for mentally disabled young people.

The boathouse is located on the Upper Rhine near Basel, right on the border with Switzerland, which is crossed on every exit.

The annual highlights in club life include the RCG dragon boat regatta and the eighth pursuit race “BaselHead”. The club organizes the latter in partnership with four neighboring clubs from three countries. According to its own information, RC Grenzach has around 220 members in 2016.

The former lightweight rower Thomas Melges started his active time for the club, he took part in three world championships and won gold in the easy double quad at the 1989 World Cup , a bronze medal in 1992 and a total of five German championship titles . Currently (2016) Simon Niepmann is a successful member. The Olympic champion from Rio de Janeiro (2016), multiple European and world champions as well as Olympic fifth in 2012 in an easy four-man competition starts for Switzerland.

The RCG has also been involved in dragon boat sports since the mid-1990s ; the relevant department includes internationally successful paddlers such as Séverine Probst , Susanne Gathmann , Alexandra Kowatzki and Manja Heyn . Nationally, the RCG starts as the "Hornfelse-Drache", named after the vineyard at the entrance to the village. The Swiss age group canoeist Max Flückiger contributed to the club's further success at world and European championships. The club also provides international functionaries and z. B. Commentators.
