The women's football department of the São José EC was founded in 2008 and is currently one of the top division teams in Brazil . The club's players are known as the “girls of the eagle” (Meninas da Águia) .

history

The São José EC first entered the game for the state championship of São Paulo in 2008 with a women's team. Winning the Copa Libertadores Femenina 2011 heralded a multi-year phase of success that was shaped by players such as Formiga , Gislaine , Daiane Bagé and Bruna Benites . Two more Libertadores titles followed by 2015, as well as two Copa do Brasil wins and three national championship titles. With a win against Arsenal WFC on December 6, 2014 in Tokyo , the third and, for the time being, last edition of the international women's club championship ("World Cup") was won. From 2015 to 2016 the team was trained by the later national coach Emily Lima .

In 2013 and 2015 the team reached the final of the still young national championship of women's football , both of which were lost to the AD Centro Olímpico and the Rio Preto EC .
