The Copa do Brasil de Futebol Feminino is the women's soccer cup competition in Brazil organized by the national soccer association CBF .

history

The Copa do Brasil Feminino was launched after the successes of the Brazilian women's national teams at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens and the 2007 Women's World Cup in China . It was the second attempt to establish a national soccer competition for women after the Taça Brasil Feminino held in the eighties of the previous century . Until the introduction of its own soccer championship in 2013, the Copa remained the only national competition and was therefore an unofficial championship. From 2008 to 2013 inclusive, its winners qualified for the Copa Libertadores Femenina competition.

For the cup winners of 2016, a qualification place for the Copa Libertadores Feminina of the following year is planned.

All winners of the national championships of the previous season are qualified for the Copa do Brasil Feminino. The strong associations from Rio de Janeiro , Pernambuco and Santa Catarina are also allowed to send their runner-ups and that of São Paulo to third in the championship. With a few exceptions, the final will be played in two games, as is customary in Brazil.
