Cristiane Rozeira de Souza Silva , short Cristiane (born May 15, 1985 in Osasco ) is a Brazilian soccer player . She currently plays for Santos FC .

Career

Cristiane entered a football school in 1995 and initially played for the local clubs São Bernardo and Atlético Juventus in São Paulo . She made her debut at the age of 15 for the U-19 selection of Brazil and took part in both the 2002 U-19 World Cup in Canada and the 2004 U-19 World Cup in Thailand ; Brazil finished fourth in both tournaments.

She played her first international match on April 25, 2003 in a 3-0 win against Peru at the South American Championship in Lima . Two days later, she scored her first international goal in a 12-0 final against Colombia , which meant that Brazil qualified for the 2003 World Cup. At the Pan American Games in 2003 she scored the 2-1 winning goal for Brazil against the Canadian U-23 team in the final in stoppage time. At the subsequent World Cup she was substituted in in the four games, but remained without a goal and was eliminated with the team against the eventual vice world champions Sweden .

Cristiane achieved her international breakthrough during the Olympic football tournament in Athens in 2004, when she only lost to the USA in the final with the Seleção and was able to celebrate Brazil's greatest international success to date with the Olympic silver medal. As a personal success, she booked the top scorer cannon with five goals.

During the 2004/05 winter break, Cristiane moved from Atlético Juventus to the German Bundesliga club 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam , making her the first Brazilian woman to play in the Bundesliga. In the 2005/06 season she was German champion and cup winner with Potsdam, but she could never really assert herself in the club. In the following season she moved to VfL Wolfsburg and scored a total of seven goals in the 2006/07 season, but there, too, she had problems with the way of playing in Germany. In the summer of 2007 she did not renew her contract in Wolfsburg and initially returned to Brazil to support the newly created women's cup competition there.

Cristiane won the top scorer's crown at the South American Championship in 2006 with 12 goals, even if Brazil, which only came with a weakened team, only finished second behind Argentina for the first time after four titles in a row . In 2007, she helped Brazil win the gold medal at the Pan American Games in front of a home crowd with eight goals . In the final, the Seleção defeated the US U-20s in front of 68,000 spectators at the Estádio do Maracanã in Rio de Janeiro .

During the 2007 World Cup , Cristiane was able to draw attention again and was voted the third best player of the tournament. She scored five goals and was the second best goalscorer on her team alongside her strike partner, world footballer Marta . Brazil reached the final of the Women's World Cup for the first time, but was subject to the German selection there . In the election for FIFA Player of the Year finished Cristiane third place of 2007.

In February 2008 Cristiane signed a five-month contract with the Swedish first division club Linköpings FC . She scored six goals in her 14 league games for the club. At the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing , she won the silver medal again after 2004. After a semi-final victory against the reigning world champion Germany, Brazil lost to the USA in the final like in Athens in 2004. Cristiane was the top scorer with five goals. At the end of the year, she again took third place in the choice of world footballer.

After the Olympics, Cristiane moved back to Brazil and played for Corinthians in São Paulo. After she had expressed interest in playing in the newly founded professional league Women's Professional Soccer in the USA, the rights went into negotiations with her in the course of the draft to the Chicago Red Stars club . On February 27, 2009, Cristiane signed a contract with the Chicagoans. In the same year, however, she moved back to Brazil to Santos FC .

Cristiane 2014 with the Cup of the top scorer of the Copa América Femenina

Cristiane represented the Brazilian women's national soccer team at the 2011 women's soccer world championship in Germany for the third time. There she scored a total of two goals and reached the quarter-finals with her team. After the World Cup, she moved to the Russian champions FK Rossijanka . In 2013 she moved to AD Centro Olímpico in her home country .

On September 14, 2014, she made her 100th international match at the Copa America Feminina , scoring two goals in a 4-1 win over Paraguay. With a total of six goals, she was the top scorer of the tournament and thus played a key role in qualifying for the 2015 World Cup in Canada.

Due to a shoulder injury, however, she could not be considered for the 2015 Algarve Cup , in which Brazil took part for the first time. Cristiane was part of the Brazilian squad for the 2015 World Cup and was used in three games, but was eliminated in the round of 16 against Australia . After this World Cup, she signed a contract with the French first division partner Paris Saint-Germain . First she took part with Brazil in the Pan American Games 2015 , where she won the gold medal for the third time and was the top scorer with seven goals - five of them in a 7-1 win against Ecuador.

In the 2015/16 UEFA Women's Champions League , she scored five goals in the two sixteenth-finals against CFF Olimpia Cluj , making her the best goalscorer for the Parisians to date.

According to the lineups listed in the Arquivo da Seleção Brasileira Feminina , she was used in 147 internationals in which she scored 95 goals. In their FIFA profile for the 2019 World Cup, 142 games and 93 goals (including the games and goals at the 2019 World Cup) are named.
