Qualification for Series A1

The Série A2 is the second division of the national soccer championship of the women of Brazil , which is organized by the Confederação Brasileira de Futebol (CBF) . It was officially launched on November 1, 2016 as a substructure for the top division Série A1 and began playing for the 2017 season.

history

The clubs competing in the Série A2 play for the qualification for the first division Série A1 of the following season. Two promotion places are planned.

The competition in the Série A2 will be played with the game mode traditionally practiced in Brazil. The participating clubs first compete in a league mode divided into two groups to determine the qualifiers for a final round. The final round will then be played in a knockout system with a return leg, in which the away goal rule is applied. Those clubs that reach the final have been promoted to the A1 series.

The field of participants for the 2017 premiere season consisted of sixteen teams, which were determined from the CBF internal ranking system. Starting with the 2018 season, the field of participants was expanded to include several teams who have since had to qualify through their performance in the championships of the states .
