The women's soccer department of the sports club Palmeiras São Paulo (officially: Sociedade Esportiva Palmeiras ) from Brazil was founded in 1997 and is currently inactive.

history

The women's football department of Palmeiras was founded on the occasion of the establishment of the São Paulo state championship in 1997. Your first trainer was the Argentine Nélson Ernesto Filpo Núñez († March 6, 1999). The national championship of 2001 marks the only significant title win of the team around the national players Cidinha and Michele Reis , reinforced by the midfielders Sissi and Formiga , as well as the goalkeeper Marlisa Wahlbrink , who has been poached from São Paulo FC .

As a result of the success, the women's team at Palmeiras was immediately dissolved, as was the case with all major Paulitsa clubs. After that, the club was only occasionally involved in women's football in cooperation with other clubs. The 2010 and 2012 seasons are an exception, in which he again took part in the national championship with his own team, these teams being composed primarily of the cadres of his futsal teams . The national player Leticia Santos de Oliveira , who has been under contract with SC Sand in Germany since 2017 , was active for Palmeiras at that time.

For the 2019 season, Palmeiras announced his return to women's football with a newly formed team that can immediately enter the national championship in the second division (Série A2). The Estádio Nelo Bracalente of Vinhedo is to be used as home ground. With the move into the semi-finals of the Série A2 on July 21, 2019 Palmeiras completed his promotion to the first division for the following season. On October 26, 2019, Palmeiras won the first edition of the Copa Paulista Feminina competition after beating São Paulo FC 2-1 in the final at the Estádio Nelo Bracalente in Vinhedo .
