The Campeonato Brasileiro de Futebol Feminino 2017 - Série A1 was the fifth season of the national soccer championship of the women of Brazil , organized by the Confederação Brasileira de Futebol . With this championship, the league operation in professional women's football in Brazil was introduced, which was presented on November 1, 2016 after a mode reform carried out by the CBF.

The Série A1 of the 2017 season opened on Saturday, March 11th with the game EC Vitória against CR Flamengo . The last final game took place on July 20th. The championship title was secured for the first time by the Santos Futebol Clube .

Participating clubs

On January 18, 2017, the clubs participating in the first league season in women's football were officially announced by the CBF. The champions and cup winners of the previous year were considered set. The other qualifiers were determined from the eight best clubs in the CBF internal point ranking of the women's teams at the beginning of 2017. The field of participants is rounded off by six women's teams from clubs that were determined from the 2016 first division season of the men's championship. It should be noted that the club partnership between SC Corinthians and Grêmio Osasco Audax, which was renewed in December 2016 , will now be ended as both clubs will each have their own team. For this, Foz Cataratas FC and Coritiba FC announced a cooperation for the upcoming championship on January 20, 2017.

The sixteen participating clubs are divided into two groups of eight teams each. Each team competes against each group opponent in a round-trip round, so that each team has to play at least fourteen games. The bottom of the group is determined to be relegated to the A2 series of the following season. The best four in each group qualified for the final round, which was played in the knockout system with a return leg, in which the away goals rule applied. Both finalists therefore had a maximum of twenty games at the end of the season.

The groups were drawn on January 23, 2017. On February 20, 2017, the schedule for the qualifying round was presented.
