Darlene de Souza Reguera (born January 11, 1990 in São José do Rio Preto / São Paulo ) is a Brazilian soccer player .

Career

society

Darlene was born as the youngest of three daughters of Francisco "Chicão" Reguera Inojo and Dorotéia de Souza Oliveira. She played soccer with her older sisters Sharlene and Milene from childhood. Their daughters' enthusiasm for the sport inspired their parents to found the women's football division of their hometown's leading club, the Rio Preto Esporte Clube, in 1996 . The mother is still the chairman and the father is the coach of this club department, while Milene is now active in club management and Sharlene has given up her sports career.

Darlene, on the other hand, embarked on a professional career after completing the junior training at Rio Preto EC and played temporarily in Italy and South Korea . In 2011 she moved to SV Neulengbach in Austria and won the Austrian championship straight away, for which she contributed six goals, and the ÖFB Cup. For the 2012/13 season she moved to ASV Spratzern and won the ÖFB Cup with this again, while the championship was missed due to a poorer goal difference. She then returned to Brazil and won the national championship there in 2015 with her “family club” under the direction of her father. In 2016 she worked for Changchun Yatai in China , which she does not want to extend after the season has ended. For the 2017 season she ran again for the Rio Preto EC and won the national championship with him.

In January 2018 Darlene moved to the Zaragoza CFF in Spain. As early as April 2018, she announced her return to Portugal to join the newly established women's team at Benfica Lisbon , for which she will appear in the 2018/19 season. In the 28-0 opening win in the second Portuguese division against UD Ponte Frielas , she scored eight goals. She ended the season with a personal record with 108 goals scored in league and cup.

National team

Darlene made her debut in the A-selection of the Brazilian national team on December 12, 2013 in a 2-0 win over Chile during the Torneio Internacional in Brasília . She scored her first international goal a few days later in the final of this tournament, also against Chile. She was a member of the squad for the 2014 South American Championship in Ecuador and the 2015 World Championship in Canada .
