The Automatic Volume Control (ger .: Automatic Volume Control ) is a special form of automatic gain control (AGC), in which the level ( volume , etc. are automatically adjusted) playing radios, CD players to the level of ambient noise and thus subjectively the handset is held the same. For this, when the environment becomes louder, the level of the reproduced sound recording is increased so that the volume is above the interference level.

The method is partly used with car radios (see GALA ) and also with telephones.
