Avşa is a small inhabited island in the Marmara Sea in the Turkish province of Balıkesir . Avşa is located in the northwest of the country and has a diameter of approx. 4 km.
Because of the sandy beach, it is primarily a destination for regional bathing tourism, so that the number of residents of the "holiday island" can double from 20,000 in the high season.
