Awilo Longomba is a Congolese musician.

Life

Awilo Longomba is the son of Victor Longomba , a founding member of the rumba group Tout puissant OK Jazz , and related to the band members of The Longombas , a well-known Afro-Fusion band in Kenya.

Awilo Longomba began his career as a drummer in the groups Viva la Musica, Stukas, Nouvelle Generation and Loketo. In 1995 he started a solo career as a singer and released his first album Moto Pamba with the support of Shimita, Ballou Canta, Dindo Yogo , Dally Kimoko, Sam Mangwana , Syran Mbenza and Rigo Star.

His album Mondongo (2004) features Japponais, Dally Kimoko, Caen Madoka, Djudjuchet, Josky and Simaro Lutumba.

Awilo Longomba lives in France and is in a relationship with the musician Barbara Kanam , who also won a Kora Award in 2003 .
