Azariah ( Old Hebrew : עֲזַרְיָה) is a male given name .

Origin and meaning

The first name means Yahweh helped in Hebrew , derived from עָזַר ('azar) , which means help , and יָה (yah) , which refers to the Hebrew God.

This is the name of many people in the Old Testament ; among other things, this is the name of one of three men whom the Babylonian king had thrown into a furnace. His Babylonian name was Abednego .

One variant of the name is Azaria .
