Bärenreiter Praha

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Czech publishing house Bärenreiter Praha is part of the Bärenreiter publishing group .

The music publishing company began in the 1940s, when the state enterprise Orbis was created through the nationalization of several private publishers . From 1967 the company existed under the name Supraphon . In 1991 privatization took place, the result of which was the creation of two independent companies: Supraphon as a record producer and Editio Supraphon - the publisher traditionally specialized in sheet music and music books, whose ownership of the extensive sheet music and book archive of the former state-owned company Supraphon has been transferred and thus later into the property of the current company Bärenreiter Praha. After the end of the lengthy privatization , Editio Supraphon was acquired by Bärenreiter-Verlag (Kassel). The collaboration between the two publishers already had a long tradition: the joint critical complete edition of Leoš Janáček's works began to appear in 1978. In 1999 the Czech publisher became a member of the Bärenreiter Group. Its main objective is the publication of works by Czech composers.

The publishing production of Bärenreiter Praha covers the development of music from the Middle Ages to the present. Classical works from the concert repertoire are published as well as music educational works, the same editions with contemporary music and music books. In accordance with the parent company's edition plan, Bärenreiter Praha specializes in Urtext editions for practice. A large part of the production destined for the Czech market consists of music educational titles. With the help of 25 employees, the publisher sells its own titles and is also the exclusive distributor of the Bärenreiter Group's products in Central and Eastern Europe and Russia.

The loan department provides performance material for concerts and the stage. The works come from our own production as well as from the programs of other publishers ( Alkor Edition Kassel , Boosey & Hawkes , Bote & Bock, DSCH Publishers, etc.).
