Exchange Council

The Exchange Council is a body to be formed by every German exchange in accordance with Section 12 of the BörsG .

The Exchange Council is made up of all groups that participate in the exchange, some of which are competing, such as banks , insurance companies , issuers and investors . The number of members from the ranks of the credit institutions is limited to a maximum of half of the members of the council. The council adopts rules of procedure and elects a chairman and at least one deputy from among its members, both of whom must belong to different interest groups. The tasks of the Exchange Council include a. the establishment of exchange regulations , the regulation of the terms and conditions of business and fees and the admission of exchange traders . The Exchange Council determines and supervises the management of the exchange and works with the exchange supervisory authority. In the case of fundamental decisions relating to exchange trading or its settlement, decisions by the management of the exchange are dependent on the approval of the exchange council. The Exchange Council of the largest German stock exchange, the Frankfurt Stock Exchange , has 18 members.
