Civic duty
Citizenship is a description of obligations that result from citizenship ( citizenship of a certain state). Civil duties are regulated in numerous laws. Is known z. B. the obligation to perform military service (or community service ), which is derived from Article 12 of the Basic Law. In addition, there are also official duties under state law, an example of which is the duty to participate in an existing mandatory fire brigade .
Civic honorary positions, which are usually only associated with a usually tax-free allowance , but not a payment for the time spent, are z. B .:
- Participation as an election assistant in elections to the Bundestag, European Parliament, Landtag, municipal council (regulated in the election laws and regulations of the federal and state governments)
- Collaboration as an honorary judge
- Assumption of guardianship and supervision (§§ 1786, 1898 BGB).
- Use in the event of a disaster ( manual and clamping services ).
Civic duties counterbalance civic rights (e.g. the right to vote and the state's duty of care for its citizens, including abroad).
