The citizen word holder is the voting chairman of the city ​​council in Bad Oldesloe .

This designation is derived from the Middle Low German word "Wortholder" for word holder or speaker. The citizen spokesman invites to council meetings and leads them. The official title is unique in Germany and has existed since 1950. Hildegard Pontow has been the current citizen word holder since 2018. Rainer Fehrmann held the office from 2008 to 2018.
