The BAE Mantis is an unmanned aerial vehicle from the British manufacturer BAE Systems , which is intended to serve as a demonstrator for the Unmanned Combat Air Vehicle ( UCAV ) technology.

history

Development of the Mantis began in 2007 and a year later a dummy was shown at Farnborough International Airshow . The first flight of the aircraft with a wingspan of around 20 m took place on November 13, 2009 in Woomera (Australia). It is powered by two Rolls-Royce M250 engines.
