BAW-RUS Motor Corporation
Under the name OOO BAW-RUS Motor Corporation ( Russian ООО БАУ-РУС Мотор Корпорэйшн ), a joint venture between Beijing Automobile Works and АМС-Авто has been operated since 2006, with its headquarters in Ulyanovsk .
As early as June 2004, the two companies confirmed their joint declaration of intent. In March 2006 the company was officially founded as a trading company. The first vehicles were sold in October. The first product offered was the BAW Фenix . Assembly production was agreed in March 2007 after a good start. In the course of 2008 an empty factory site was acquired. By the summer of 2009, three assembly lines had been installed and an office building built. The company invested 300 million rubles in the reconstruction .
Two more models were added in 2010. Production of the BAW Tonik began in July and the BAW Street Line in August .
