BIBIS is library system software from the Netherlands .

history

The library software BIBIS has been developed by Square Information Systems BV since 1985. As one of the leading European software solutions for libraries (according to information provided by the provider), BIBIS is used in over 700 corporate and specialty libraries. BIBIS smart library has been offered for rent as a web-based solution since 2007 . The name later changed to 'BIBIS Bibliotheek System "(" BIB Library Portal ").

technology

BIBIS has been completely web-based since the mid-1990s. The software runs entirely on a web server, e.g. B. IIS, and both the OPAC and the actual administration program can be operated via a web browser .

Demarcation

BIBIS has been specially developed for corporate and special libraries, the focus is on the design and optimization of business processes. BIBIS is primarily not suitable for public libraries and university libraries. BIBIS has a powerful search engine that enables metadata recorded by librarians and documents linked to bibliographic data to be indexed in full text.
