BMW 8026
The BMW 8026 was a small jet engine from the German manufacturer BMW Triebwerkbau GmbH , which was manufactured in the early 1960s for use in drones , short-range missiles and motor gliders .
history
In December 1961, the engine was certified according to the requirements of CAR Part 13 and then approved for flight tests.
construction
The engine was derived from the BMW 8025, which found its first experimental application in the Hütter H 30 TS motor glider . The design of the BMW 8026 is very similar to that of the BWM 6012 shaft turbine, but the gearbox is missing. The lubrication takes place by adding five percent oil to the fuel and BMW explained that the engine is otherwise maintenance-free.
