Residential building

The house Bachstraße 48-50 is in the district of Rheydt in Mönchengladbach ( Nordrhein-Westfalen ).

The building, built in 1820, was entered in the monuments list of the city of Mönchengladbach under No. B 076 on June 15, 1989 .

location

Bachstraße is located in the center of Rheydt in the wider area around Marienplatz. House no. 48–50 is part of a historical group of five houses (no. 46, 52, 54, 56), which in their unity characterize the street scene accordingly.

architecture

It is a plastered building (essentially half-timbered ) with eight axes in two storeys; 1820 recorded as a four-sided closed courtyard in the original cadastre . It was largely changed around the turn of the century and "upgraded" with a historicizing stucco facade. The tall rectangular windows on the upper floor are of lower proportions and are arranged in regular rows. On the ground floor, they are framed by a simple frame panel, which is elevated by a modified keystone .

It is probably the oldest house on the street and is therefore of high architectural value, as well as being worth preserving due to its function that defines the street scene.
