An oven thermometer measures the internal temperature of an oven . It is used because the temperature set on the oven often differs from the actual one.

Oven thermometers are usually bimetal thermometers that can be easily made from materials that are sufficiently heat-resistant. They remain in the oven for the entire cooking time. The thermometer should be placed at the same level as the food, as the temperature in the oven is usually not the same on all levels.

We recommend using an oven thermometer when preparing temperature-critical dishes, e.g. B. when cooking at low temperatures . The oven thermometer should not be confused with the roasting thermometer , which is used to measure the core temperature of food.
