Company headquarters in Maximilianstrasse

history

The company was founded in 1929 by Bruno Bader (1901–1992) in Pforzheim. Initially only jewelry, wristwatches, cutlery and silverware were sent. In 1938 the Bader catalog had 100 pages and the company had 500 employees. The company was completely destroyed in the bombing raid on Pforzheim on February 23, 1945 and Bruno Bader started over with twelve employees. In 1949 the pre-war economic level was reached again. In addition to the products from the jewelry and gold goods industry typical for Pforzheim, other product ranges were added. In 1952 the company added fashion to its range and the first clothing catalog was sent out in the summer of 1953. In 1965 the two catalogs “Bader Schmuck” and “Bader Moden” were finally merged into one large catalog. In 1977 the company was one of the ten most important mail order companies in Germany and carried a comprehensive range of outerwear.

In 1965, the decision was made to use the Brötzinger Tal industrial area in Pforzheim as the shipping location; in 1972 this location was expanded, and in 1995 a new administration building was moved into. In 2000 the company had sales of around DM 1 billion. In 2011 Bader had around 1,000 employees, in 2001 it was 1,200. For his work in the reconstruction after the war and for the progressive social policy in his company, Bruno Bader received the Federal Cross of Merit, First Class. Bruno Bader developed a new type of partial payment system that, without a credit agreement, was based solely on trust in the customer's creditworthiness and was thus adapted to the tight financial situation of the time. Until then, credit purchases had only been reserved for officials in a safe position.

The new logistics center on the western outskirts of Östringen has been gradually going into operation since November 20, 2017 . With the new dispatch center, some of Bader's subsidiaries are also coming to Kraichgau. The main administration remains in Pforzheim.

Products

The main catalog offers around 17,000 different products on around 1,000 pages. This includes clothing for women and men, home textiles, furniture, housewares, gifts, technology, as well as watches and jewelry. In addition, special catalogs on various product areas appear several times a year. The Bader direct purchase in Pforzheim covers a sales area of over 3000 square meters.
