Excavator barge

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dredging barges are lighters without their own propulsion that take over dredged material from a dredger . They are then towed to another location, where the cargo can be dumped by opening the floor .

So that excavator barges do not sink when the bottom is opened, they are double-walled. Only the middle part of the hull contains the cargo and can be opened.
