The Eisstadion am Pulverturm is an ice rink in the Lower Bavarian town of Straubing , which was opened in 1967 and today offers space for 5,730 spectators. The Hockey Club of Straubing Tigers of the German Ice Hockey League wears their home games, as well as the amateur and youth teams of the EHC Straubing. The stadium is owned and operated by the City of Straubing, while Straubing Tigers GmbH is responsible for marketing and catering.

construction time

The ice rink was built on the site of the natural ice rink previously used and inaugurated on November 9, 1967. At the beginning it was just an uncovered artificial ice surface with grandstands. After the 1975/76 season, construction of the roofing began, which was completed at the beginning of the 1976/77 season.

The stadium was built by TSV Straubing , the predecessor club of the EHC and thus the Tigers. Due to financial difficulties in the spin-off of the ice hockey department and the re-establishment of the EHC Straubing, the stadium became the property of the city of Straubing in 1981.

The facility was continuously modernized, for example by the construction of the south stand in the 2001/02 season, which also includes the new players' cabins. The east side of the stadium was closed in summer 2008 due to a construction project, the completion of which was delayed until October by arson in July 2008. An upper tier on the south stand, which contains additional seats, was also retrofitted. After the 2010/11 season , construction began on the east side at the end of March 2011. The construction measure includes the new construction of the entrance area, the VIP area, the stadium restaurant, the Tigers office and a fan shop, as well as the renovation of the changing rooms for the EHC Straubing teams.

When the east side was closed in October 2008, the venue had 5,825 seats, 4,282 standing, 1,543 seated and 400 VIP seats. In the late 2010s, standing room capacity was reduced to 4,187 spectators.

Surname
