The Ōmori Station ( Jap. 大森駅 , Ōmori-eki ) is located in Ōta in Tokyo , Japan .

history

The station was opened on June 12, 1876 as a station for the passenger traffic of the Japanese state railway. On April 1, 1898, goods operations at the station were also started. On December 20, 1914, a train of the Keihin Line (predecessor line of today's Keihin-Tōhoku Line ) stopped for the first time at the station and began its scheduled operation. On October 1, 1971, after more than 70 years, freight operations were stopped again. Between July 1982 and July 1984 the station was renovated and a new station building erected and opened. Like all stations of the Japanese state railway, the Ōmori station was transferred to the privatized JR East on April 1, 1989. Since November 18, 2001, the Suica can also be used as an electronic ticket at the train station . The station received a last major renovation between 2003 and 2007 as part of building measures for barrier-free access with the installation of escalators and elevators.
