The Arta Station is a former railway station in the Spanish municipality of Arta in the northeastern part of the Mediterranean island of Mallorca . It is now used as a tourist information office and for exhibitions.

It is located south of the old town of Artà at 7 Avinguda de Costa i Llobera .

Architecture and history

The two-storey station building was built as the terminus of the Manacor – Artà railway line on a rectangular floor plan. The design is typical of the train station buildings in the region during the construction period. The line between Son Servera and Artà was opened as the last section of the line in June 1921. The construction of the route was largely based on an initiative by Rafael Blanes Tolosa . The line was in operation until 1977 when it was closed.

After plans to resume the route had failed in the meantime, the route was converted into a cycle path and opened in 2014. At the same time, the train station was renovated and reopened as an exhibition space and tourist information center. In particular, regional products and handicrafts are exhibited and sold. These include products made from palm fibers, leather, clay and fabrics, but also liqueurs, honey and wine. Furniture is also restored. There is a bike rental service on the station premises .
