The Wuppertal-Beyenburg station , also known as Beyenburger Bahnhof , is a train station in the North Rhine-Westphalian city of Wuppertal . It is located on the section of the Wuppertal Railway of the Bergisch-Märkische Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft, which was opened in 1886 and in this section largely closed down at the end of 1979 .
history
The station went into operation with the opening of the Dahlerau / Beyenburg section on November 1, 1888, at that time under the name Beyenburg . When the line section was extended to Rauental on February 3, 1890 , the number of passengers rose so much that the station had to be enlarged. Among other things, a central platform with an underpass was built. In the early 1950s, the station was renamed Wuppertal-Beyenburg .
The slate - clad half - timbered house of the reception building has been registered as a monument since July 1, 1988. The property has been owned by the trias foundation since 2006 and is rented to various social organizations. Among other things, the "Ita Wegman Vocational College" and a residential group from Porta eV are housed in the premises.
