The Bahnkolk Norddeich is a protected, extensive natural monument in Norddeich , a district in the north , in the Lower Saxony district of Aurich in East Frisia . It bears the number ND AUR 00120.

Description of the area

The extensive natural monument designated on July 3, 1987 is located on Molenstrasse immediately southeast of the railway embankment near the center of Norddeich. The water is of artificial origin and was created through soil degradation for the railway embankment. According to the district of Aurich, the area is valuable for adapted animal and plant species. In addition, it "has an invigorating effect on the landscape and is related to the history of the place."

Protection purpose

The general purpose of protection is the "protection of the still water from changes, destruction and impairment."
