The railway Mount Abram Junction Mount Abram is a railway line in Maine ( United States ). It is around 2.5 kilometers long. The line was built in the gauge of two feet (610 mm) and is completely shut down.

After the opening of the Strong – Kingfield line by the Franklin and Megantic Railway in 1884, many logging camps were connected to the railway. However, some camps on Mount Abram were too far off the track to benefit from it. So the railroad company built a short branch line that branched off its main line west of Kingfield , crossed the West Branch River and ran north to the base of the mountain. The line was opened as a public railway in 1889, but only served freight traffic. The railway was initially shut down in 1899, but reopened in 1907. From 1908, the Sandy River and Rangeley Lakes Railroad led operations on the railroad, which in turn was taken over by the Maine Central Railroad in 1911 . The branch was finally shut down and dismantled in 1922.
