Lists on the subject

The Bakatwa is a short sword or a dagger of the Shona from Zimbabwe , depending on the version .

description

The Bakatwa has a straight, usually double-edged blade. Some short sword versions have a single-edged blade. The blade runs the same width from the handle to the place . Often the cutting edges converge to a point or needle-shaped. The blade has a pronounced central ridge. The hilt is often intricately carved and wrapped with metal wire made of copper or brass . The associated scabbards are made of wood or, rarely, ivory and, like the hilt, are artfully carved or wrapped with metal wire.
