Balkhaschzwetmet
The Balkhashtsvetmet ( Russian Балхашцветмет ) is a metal-processing plant on the coast of Lake Balkhash , in the city of Balkhash , in the area of Karaganda in Kazakhstan . The history of the city and the company are closely linked; the city only reached its present-day size after the company was settled.
After the change from a state to a private company, the combine was renamed PO "Balchaschzwetmet" .
The combine is involved in the pollution of Lake Balkhash to a considerable extent .
history
In 1928, large copper deposits were discovered on the north bank of Lake Balkhash by a group led by Rusakov Michail Petrovich. In October 1931 the "PribalchaschStroi" company was created to exploit these deposits. Its main task was the construction of the combine. This resulted in the Combine after the Second World War , which employed 15,000 people at its peak.
