The ballet of the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz is Munich's second dance ensemble alongside the Bavarian State Ballet . Since the 2012/2013 season it has been under the direction of ballet director Karl Alfred Schreiner.

The ballet of the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz works regularly with internationally renowned guest choreographers. In recent years, for example, Jo Strømgren, Cayetano Soto, Mauro Astolfi, Marko Goecke and Antony Rizzi have created their own works for the ensemble.
