Banette

Banette , actually in French a woven basket made of thinly split chestnut wood for transport and storage purposes, was also the name for a piece of measure in the American trade in leather and hides.

  • 1 banette = 1 bunch of ox skins with 2 hides = 1 ox skin and 2 cow hides = 3 young ox hides = 4 cow hides
