The Banque Centrale de Syrie ( French for Central Bank of Syria ; Arabic مصرف سورية المركزي, DMG maṣrif sūriyya al-markazī ; English Central Bank of Syria ) is the central bank of the Syrian Arab Republic . The seat is in the capital Damascus . There are branches in the main cities in the country.
In the sanctions against the Syrian government by the EU due to the civil war, the central bank of Syria is subject to an embargo on all transactions with EU countries.
