Bantoid cross-languages
The bantoid cross languages ( Bantoid-Cross for short ) form together with the platoid languages the East Benue-Congo , a branch of the Benue-Congo languages , which in turn belong to the Niger-Congo .
The approximately 700 languages are spoken by around 220 million people in Nigeria , Cameroon and all of Central and South Africa. Bantoid-Cross falls into two main groups:

Bantoid Cross
- Cross River (65 languages, 6 million speakers, Southeast Nigeria, Cameroon)
- Bantoid (650 languages, 215 million speakers, northeast Nigeria, central and South Africa)
The bantoid languages include the large group of the Bantu languages .
