Baobhan Sith

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Baobhan-Sith [ bɤːvɐn ʃiː ] is the Scottish term for a seductive vampire who brings pretty young men to death. It occurs mainly in the forest or in the great outdoors . In the shape of a beautiful girl, mostly, but not necessarily, dressed in green, she arouses no suspicion, but she ultimately sucks her victims up to the last drop of blood.

The color of her dress indicates her bond with the forest and the nature spirits wandering in it, as well as death and seduction, as the color green has always been considered mysteriously fascinating and disastrous in connection with beautiful women.

One of the many legends surrounding the Baobhan-sith tells of four hunters who spend the night in a forest clearing. Since it is cold, they try to warm up by singing and dancing. Soon four enchantingly beautiful girls with curly hair and green dresses emerge from the forest to keep the hunters company. They react extremely happy except for one who is scary about the matter. He refrains from dancing with the girls and sleeps in a camp site further away. When he comes back the next morning, he finds his comrades lying there pale and dead. The Baobhan Sith sucked them up down to the last drop of blood.
