The Barać caves ( Croatian : Baraćeve špilje ) are located about 6 kilometers east of the town of Rakovica near the village of Nova Kršlja.
The karst caves are divided into several parts, the lower, the upper and the third Barać cave (Croatian: Donja Baraćeva špilja, Gornja Baraćeva špilja, Nova Baraćeva špilja). The Otvaranje špilja is also included in this cave system. The access to the caves is on the north side of the Barać's Brina mountain.
The caves were made accessible to visitors in 1892, but were forgotten again around 1920. Since 2004, the first 200 m of the 520 m long upper cave can be viewed again as part of a guided tour.
The Suvaja flows past nearby, which shortly afterwards disappears completely in a sinkhole, only to reappear after another 200 meters in a karst spring.
