Bargala was an ancient city in Thrace . Today's archaeological site is in the Karbinci Opština near Dolen Kozjak in Macedonia .

Bargala, which was on the ancient Oescus - Serdica - Stobi road , is not mentioned until late antiquity , when it may have succeeded the earlier Astibus . In 371/2 a city gate was built on the orders of the Roman governor of the province of Dacia Mediterranea, Antonius Alypius. At the end of the 4th century, the town was moved to a higher elevation by about 2 kilometers. Bargala was the seat of a bishop mentioned at the Council of Chalcedon in 451 . The titular bishopric of Bargala of the Roman Catholic Church goes back to the diocese . At the end of the 6th century, Bargala was destroyed.
