Baron Colwyn

Baron Colwyn , of Colwyn Bay in the County of Denbigh , is a hereditary British title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom .

Award

The title was created on June 22, 1917 for the businessman Sir Frederick Smith, 1st Baronet . This had already been awarded the subordinate title Baronet , of Colwyn Bay in the County of Denbigh, on July 9, 1912 in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom .

Today's title holder has been his grandson Ian Anthony Hamilton-Smith as 3rd Baron since 1966 , who changed his family name from Smith to Hamilton-Smith .

The heir ( Heir Apparent ) is the son of the current title holder, Hon. Craig Hamilton-Smith (born 1968).
