Baron Derwent

Baron Derwent , of Hackness in the North Riding of the County of York , is a hereditary British title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom .

The family seat of the barons is Hackness Hall near Scarborough in North Yorkshire.

Award

The title was created on October 10, 1881 for former Liberal MP, Sir Harcourt Vanden-Bempdearc-Johnstone, 3rd Baronet . On July 6, 1795, he had inherited the subordinate title of Baronet , of Hackness Hall in the North Riding of the County of York, from his father, which had been bestowed on his grandfather on July 6, 1795 in the Baronetage of Great Britain.

Today's title holder has been his great-great-grandson Robin Vanden-Bempde-Johnstone as 5th Baron since 1986 .
