Baron Hemphill

Baron Hemphill , of Rathkenny and Cashel in the County of Tipperary , is a hereditary British title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom .

Today the Barons reside in Raford House near Kiltullagh in County Galway , Ireland.

Award

The title was created on January 12, 1906 for the liberal politician and lawyer Charles Hemphill . This was the House of Commons and Solicitor-General for Ireland.

His great-grandson, Peter Hemphill, 5th Baron Hemphill , took the additional surname Martyn through deed poll in 1959 , after the maiden name of his paternal grandmother, a cousin of Edward Martyn .

Today's title holder has been his son Charles Martyn-Hemphill as the 6th Baron since 2012 .
